When a contract in Paraguay needs checking or a dispute needs resolving: through us you reach a partner lawyer for local matters, billed by the time spent.

For whom
Residents and investors with a local legal matter

Plenty of things in Paraguay get done without a lawyer, a standard lease for example. Others do not: checking the title before buying a house or land, a large lease with unusual terms, a dispute with a landlord, an insurer or a bank. Then you need someone who knows local law and negotiates in Spanish.

For those cases we put a partner lawyer at your side on call. The work is billed by the hour. Because no two matters are alike, we estimate the likely effort individually once you have described what is going on.

What's included

Who is this for?

For residents, buyers and investors in Paraguay who need a lawyer for a specific local matter, such as before a purchase, over a contract or in a dispute.

Billed by the hour; the amount shown is a starting rate per hour. We estimate in advance how many hours your matter is likely to take. The service is not included in any package price.

Important note: Legal advice and representation come from a partner lawyer in Paraguay, not from us; we coordinate and are not a law firm. Nobody can promise the outcome of a negotiation or a court case. Questions under the law of your home country, such as tax or inheritance there, belong with a lawyer or tax adviser qualified in that country.

FAQ

Which matters does a lawyer in Paraguay typically help with?
Typical occasions are checking the title and encumbrances before buying property or land, reviewing larger leases and handling rental disputes, a dispute with an insurer over a significant sum, serious problems with a bank, and contracts ahead of an investment, a building project or hiring household staff. After your inquiry we tell you whether a suitable lawyer is available for your matter.
Does a Paraguayan lease need a lawyer?
A standard lease does not. A legal review pays off for a high rent or unusual terms, and in a dispute a lawyer is advisable; mediation is usually cheaper than going to court.
Why hire a lawyer before buying property in Paraguay?
Because the problems almost always stem from a check that was skipped before the purchase. The lawyer examines the title at the Registro Público, encumbrances and pending disputes, mortgages, tax arrears and utility debts, and the building permits. With farmland, title, area and zoning are checked before any down payment.
How is the Paraguay lawyer on call billed?
By the hour. The hourly rate is a starting price, and the actual effort depends on the matter. Once you have described the case, we estimate it individually.
Can a lawyer attend Migraciones or DNIT appointments on my behalf?
With a power of attorney, a lawyer can follow up files and submit documents. Steps that need you physically present, such as the biometrics for the residency application, completing the RUC at the DNIT or the driver's license appointment, you attend yourself. For the DNIT step you can pick whichever DNIT office in the country suits you.
Can the partner lawyer in Paraguay advise on my home country's law?
No. The partner lawyer covers Paraguayan matters. Questions about tax, inheritance or contracts under the law of your home country go to a professional qualified there.
