Preparation at home
You obtain and apostille your documents at home and send them to us. The sworn translations are made in Paraguay, not in your home country, and we arrange them.
Arrival in Paraguay
Most nationalities enter visa-free with 90 days on arrival. The residency application follows on the ground (next step).
Trip to Asunción, every appointment bundled
The government errands themselves usually take one to two days. Plan at least a week on the ground anyway, as a buffer: appointments slip, and without slack a delay turns into a second flight. The cédula appointments that would otherwise need a second trip are pulled forward here.
Cédula, then the RUC tax number
The carnet is issued in the usual time frame, and the cédula follows within days because the fast-track is part of Premium; the RUC inscription comes after that. No second flight for the residency, because the on-site appointments were already pulled forward.
What sets the paths apart?
The order is always the same: first the Carnet de Residencia Temporal, then the cédula, then the RUC tax number (the RUC requires the cédula). With the Premium package we pull forward the appointments that would otherwise make up the second trip (the cédula biometrics), so the residency is done in a single stay and the RUC inscription is included (completing the RUC still needs a short DNIT visit afterward, at any DNIT office in the country); the carnet takes its usual time, and the included cédula fast-track removes most of the wait that follows it. With the Standard package, only the application is filed on the first trip; the cédula needs a second on-site appointment after approval, and the RUC is not included there. Important: the police clearance has to be current when it is used for the cédula, and on the margin we recommend (about 90 days from issue) that window can lapse before the second trip on the 2-trip package (a repeat risk), which is why we recommend the 1-trip package. The Light package follows the same sequence as Standard but splits the work differently: you obtain the documents and apostilles yourself, you pay the sworn translations (which we coordinate) and the government fees directly, and our gestor accompanies you on the ground to the Migraciones appointments. The cédula fast-track (issued in a few days) is included in the Premium package; the carnet fast-track (about 30 to 45 days instead of 3 to 4 months) remains an optional add-on. Support all the way to permanent residency is no longer part of any package as of September 2026; it is bookable as an add-on. One caveat that never changes: US citizens and green-card holders are taxed by the IRS on worldwide income regardless of residency, so take US-qualified advice if that applies to you.
