For whom
Nationals of visa-required countries

Most Western passports enter Paraguay without a visa and start residency on the ground. Many others cannot: nationals of India, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, among others, need a visa before they can even board. For them the path does not begin at Migraciones in Asunción but at a Paraguayan consulate abroad.

No visa means no entry, and no entry means no residency, because the decisive residency steps happen in person in Paraguay. That is why we treat the visa and the residency as a single plan rather than two separate projects: the consular file, the travel window and the residency filing are scheduled around each other from the first call.

We look at the passport first, not last. Which documents the consulate wants, how they must be certified and when the trip makes sense is settled before anything is filed. If your documents come from a country outside the Hague Apostille Convention, Nigeria or Kenya for example, we plan the longer legalization chain from the start.

What's included

  • A check of your nationality and the right entry route before any other step
  • A document list for the consular application and a review of each item: photo, passport, proof of solvency, police record, accommodation, itinerary
  • Planning the certification: apostille, or for non-Apostille countries the legalization through your own foreign ministry, the competent Paraguayan embassy and the Foreign Ministry in Asunción
  • Support with the online application and preparation for the consular interview
  • Timing the travel and the entry around the residency application that follows
  • The residency process in Paraguay after arrival, coordinated in the same track

Process

  1. 1Free first assessment: nationality, purpose of the move and timeline
  2. 2Documents: you obtain and certify the home-country documents yourself, and we check every item before it is submitted
  3. 3The invitation letter from a person or company domiciled in Paraguay, which you can book separately through us
  4. 4The online application with the Paraguayan Foreign Ministry, then the interview at the competent consulate, normally in person
  5. 5Once the visa is granted: entry into Paraguay and the residency process on the ground

File the visa application at least 30 days before your planned travel date, because the review, the interview and any follow-up requests take time. For non-Apostille countries the legalization of your documents comes first and runs through several offices, so it takes longer. We have no influence on the consulate’s processing time.

Who is this for?

For nationals of visa-required countries who want to move to Paraguay and apply for residency there, including spouses and relatives of applicants whose own passport is visa-free. If your passport enters Paraguay without a visa, you do not need this service and start directly with residency.

Quoted per case, because the effort depends on the consulate, the nationality and the documents. The quote covers the visa and the residency process as one track. Not included: the invitation letter, which is booked separately, and the certification and legalization costs in your home country, which vary by country.

Important note: The consulate decides whether a visa is granted, and the Migraciones officer at the border decides on entry on the day you arrive. Nobody can guarantee either, and a granted visa is not a guarantee of entry. We are neither a law firm nor an authority; we coordinate the application with our partners on the ground. Consular requirements can change, and what counts is the position on the day you apply.

FAQ

Which nationalities need a visa to enter Paraguay?
Mainly countries in South Asia, large parts of Africa, some Caribbean states and several Pacific island nations, among them India, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Some nationalities you might not expect currently enter visa-free, South Africa, Singapore and the Philippines among them. The list changes with new agreements, so we check your specific passport against the current position in the first assessment.
Which documents does the Paraguayan consulate ask for in a visa application?
For the tourist visa: a recent 3x4 photo on a white background, a color scan of the passport, scans of earlier visas from other countries, an invitation letter from Paraguay, proof of solvency (such as an employer or bank letter), a police record from your country of residence that is legalized or apostilled, an accommodation booking and a provisional itinerary. The consulate can ask for more.
Where do I apply for a Paraguay visa?
At a Paraguayan consulate or the consular section of a Paraguayan embassy, ideally close to your country of residence. Honorary consulates are not authorized to accept visa applications. If your travel plans change, an approved visa can be collected at another Paraguayan mission on request.
Does a granted Paraguayan visa guarantee entry?
No. The visa means the consulate considers you eligible to travel. Entry is decided only by the migration authority, by the officer at the border on the day you arrive. Complete, consistent documents and a clear purpose improve the odds, but there is no guarantee.
How do children apply for a Paraguay visa?
Minors under 18 do not file their own application; it runs through the parents or legal guardians, who also complete the online form. If the child is not traveling with both parents, a written travel authorization in the form your country of residence requires is needed. Prepare it early, because certifications take time.
Is the Paraguay visa service the same as a residency package?
It goes further for visa-required nationals. The service covers the consular visa and the residency process in Paraguay as one coordinated track, quoted together for your case. Only the invitation letter from Paraguay is booked separately.
