Airport pickup in Asunción

After a long-haul flight, someone meets you at Silvio Pettirossi airport and drives you to your accommodation, so you are not hunting for a ride with heavy luggage and no local SIM card.

Price
from $120
Duration
Drive to the main expat neighborhoods usually 20 to 40 minutes
For whom
Newcomers to Paraguay

Silvio Pettirossi airport sits in Luque, just northeast of Asunción. Arriving after a long flight with several suitcases, perhaps with children, you have neither a Paraguayan SIM card nor guaraníes in your pocket for the first few hours. The pickup is designed for exactly that moment: you are met at the airport and driven to where you are staying.

The days after that are easy to plan: SIM card, cash and a first grocery run, then housing, a bank account and the residency appointments. The questions below cover the first hours, and our first-30-days checklist maps out the weeks that follow.

What's included

  • Meet-and-greet at Silvio Pettirossi airport when you land
  • Transfer to your accommodation in Asunción
  • Flight details and meeting point agreed in advance

Who is this for?

For anyone landing in Asunción for the first time or with a lot of luggage: families with children, people arriving for their residency application, and anyone who wants to get from the plane to the door without detours.

Pricing

  • Airport pickup$120

The price is per trip. If you are bringing a lot of luggage or traveling as a group, tell us when you book so we can plan the ride accordingly. The pickup is not part of any residency package and is booked on its own.

Important note: The pickup is a transfer service only. You clear immigration and passport control yourself, and it does not replace accompaniment to government appointments. We give no legal or tax advice; residency, tax matters and office visits are separate services.

FAQ

Is the Asunción airport pickup included in a residency package?
No, not even in Premium. You book it as an add-on, together with your residency package if you like.
Where can I buy a Paraguayan SIM card after landing?
SIM cards are sold right at the airport, but usually at a markup over prices in town. If you do not need data straight away, buy at an operator's shop, a supermarket or a shopping center. The main operators are Tigo, Personal and Claro. You register with your passport, and activation takes a few minutes.
Should I change money into guaraníes at Asunción airport?
Only what you need right away. Exchange houses (casas de cambio) in town offer better rates than the airport, for example on Calle Palma in the center and in the shopping centers of Villa Morra and Carmelitas. Withdraw cash at ATMs inside banks or shopping centers rather than on the street, because skimming does happen.
How do I get from Asunción airport into the city without a pickup?
Uber and Bolt work reliably in Asunción and are inexpensive, and at night they are preferable to street taxis. With lots of luggage, children or a pet and no local SIM card, a booked pickup is the more relaxed option.
What should I keep in mind when entering Paraguay ahead of a residency application?
Look after your passport and its Paraguayan entry stamp. The residency application asks for copies of the passport's main pages and of every Paraguayan entry stamp so far. If you are traveling with an animal, go to the SENACSA check first after landing.
