Anyone who needs a visa for Paraguay has to show the consulate an invitation letter from a person or company domiciled in Paraguay. The photo, passport scan and itinerary are quickly arranged. The invitation is where many applications stall, because it takes someone on the ground who stands behind the visit with their name and their papers.

The letter itself is short; the annexes are what count. When a private individual invites, a notarized copy of their cédula goes with it. When a company invites, the consulate also wants to see that it is in good standing: RUC, tax compliance certificate and registration with the Abogacía del Tesoro.

The consulate decides whether the visa is granted, and the Migraciones officer at the border decides on entry. The purpose stated in the letter must match what you actually intend to do. We are not a law firm and coordinate the letter with our partners on the ground; the consulate may request further documents.

Who can issue an invitation letter for a Paraguay visa?

A private individual or a company domiciled in Paraguay. The inviting party has to identify itself: an individual attaches a notarized copy of their cédula, a company additionally shows that it is in good standing with the authorities.

What must a Paraguayan carta de invitación contain?

Phone and e-mail contact of the inviting party and the purpose of the visit. A vague letter tends to trigger questions, while a specific one moves the application forward.

What does the consulate require when a Paraguayan company issues the invitation?

At least a tax compliance certificate, proof of RUC registration and registration with the Abogacía del Tesoro. When the invitation goes through the Foreign Ministry, more documents follow: the deed of incorporation, IVA payment receipts for the last six months, IPS contributions for the staff and an electricity bill. The authority wants to see a real company with its tax affairs in order behind the invitation.

Is the invitation letter enough on its own for a Paraguay visa?

No. It is mandatory, but only one part of the file. The photo, passport scan, proof of solvency, a legalized or apostilled police record, an accommodation booking and an itinerary belong to it as well. Handling the whole application, together with the residency process, is what our visa service does.

Do visa-exempt travelers need an invitation letter to enter Paraguay?

No. If your passport enters Paraguay without a visa, no invitation is needed. The letter matters only when you, or a spouse or relative traveling with you, hold a passport from a visa-required country.
