Paraguay is concentrating its pitch to foreign investors into a single flagship event. From 11 to 13 November 2026, Ciudad del Este hosts the 17th Expo Paraguay Brasil, staged alongside the second Paraguay Business Week and the Alto Paraná Invest Forum. The programme was presented in mid 2026 and centres on investment projects, deal-making, and Paraguay's tightening economic ties with Brazil.

What the Format Is

The event is run by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) through its investment and export agency REDIEX, together with the Paraguay-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (CCPB), with backing from the Alto Paraná regional government and Itaipú Binacional. The 2026 edition is themed around technology, innovation and Industry 4.0 as connective tissue between the two economies. On the agenda: business rounds, public and private investment projects, public-private partnerships, and direct meetings between investors and project developers.

The Targets for 2026

Organisers are aiming high: well over 10,000 visitors, with recent announcements citing up to 12,000, several hundred exhibitor stands, and more than 2,000 scheduled business meetings. Potential business volume is projected to exceed USD 450 million. For context, the 2025 edition drew roughly 9,000 participants, 57% of them from abroad, and generated business intentions worth USD 420.8 million. Across its 16 previous editions, the fair has attracted more than 30,000 visitors in total.

Why Ciudad del Este

The border city at the tri-border area is Paraguay's industrial shop window toward Brazil. Bilateral trade between the two countries runs in the order of USD 8 billion a year. The Alto Paraná region concentrates a large share of Paraguay's maquila industry, the export-oriented contract manufacturing that has grown quickly along the frontier. For a country that adds roughly 100,000 young people to its labour market every year, attracting industry is a central economic priority.

What It Means for Expats and Investors

For private individuals the fair is not a direct service point, but it is a clear signal: Paraguay is positioning itself, openly, as an investment base and a bridge to the Brazilian market. That fits the wider picture of an investment-grade rating, steady growth, and a territorial tax system that leaves foreign income at 0%.

If you are weighing an entrepreneurial move, the groundwork is in our guide to investing in Paraguay; if you are planning residency and tax residency, start with the 0% tax residency guide.

The honest caveat matters. These figures are organiser targets, not guaranteed outcomes, and a strong investment location does nothing to change the tax rules that apply to your own case. What decides your position is genuine tax residency, not the general business mood.

Frequently Asked Questions

When and where is Expo Paraguay Brasil 2026?

From 11 to 13 November 2026 in Ciudad del Este, in the Alto Paraná department on the border with Brazil. It is the 17th edition, held together with the second Paraguay Business Week and the Alto Paraná Invest Forum.

Is the fair relevant for private expats?

Not directly. It is aimed at companies and investors rather than individuals. As a location signal, though, it is telling: it shows how hard Paraguay is leaning on industrial investment and trade with Brazil, the backdrop against which many people weigh a move.
